The Rub have finally finished the History of Hip-Hop series! 1979 – 2009 featuring all your favorite hip hop cuts and rap records. All mixes are downloadable, tracklists are available and are pretty dope! Check out the Golden era in particular – 1980 right through to the end of the 90′s for a trip down memory lane. Also check out the interview with the crew involved in this project below who consist of Cosmo Baker, Dj Ayers and Dj Eleven – pretty tight crew!

Jazzman Gerald (best known as the man behind Jazzman Records – the great UK-based record label that specialises in soul and funk re-issues from around the world and across time) has kindly given us his latest top 10 records he’s listening to at the moment. Gerald has DJd with us a few times and his knowledge of records combined with his skills as a selector means you pay attention when this man lets you know what’s on his platters!

We should have put this up a while ago, but this has been blasting in the office (Cold Games/I Can’t let You Get Away) of late and at our nights. Probably the tightest funk band in the world, Finland’s Soul Investigators who helm the Timmion Label have blown us away with their transatlantic collaboration with Bay Area vocalists Myron & E Da Boss…This track is harking back to very early style RnB music and boy oh boy is it a stunner. Wicked arrangements, drums and strings compliment  Expect a full length collaboration to drop in the future.

Check out Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators from a few years back for ChoiceCuts at Dublin Fringe Festival 2006, footage is rough, but sound came out ok…great gig was had
