Doom plays the Button Factory on October 12th 2010

The extraordinarily talented and prolific Daniel Dumile pka Zev Love X and nka Doom hasÂ finally announced an Irish date on his forthcoming European tour in October. Tickets will go on sale with ticketmaster.ie and tickets.ie on Thursday 12th August. Full event details are here so spread the word and get the gang together, this should be a memorable night by all accounts. And before you ask, yes it will be the real Daniel Dumile appearing

Bona fide Skills – Ghostpoet

While its sad to see hip-hop slowly decaying these days it is also great to be surprised when someone worth mentioning comes along out of the blue. Ghostpoet is certainly one of these people. He’s even ventured into dangerous territory by remixing a Tribe Called Quest classic – Electric Relaxation and his take on it is pretty special indeed. Reigning from Great Britain this young inventive MC has been making a lot of noise recently with tracks like “Longing for the night” which you can currently download for free along with 3 other tracks of his.

Definitely an artist to keep an eye out for in these troubled hip hop days and one who may give us the boost we all need to rejuvenate our love for the genre. Ghostpoet has those bona fide skills yall….

ChoiceCuts favourite Edan releases this mouth watering mix Echo Party on UK indie label Five Day Weekend this coming November. Given the green light to sift through the Traffic Groups collection of label back-catalogues(eg..P&P, Magic Records, Chocolate Star).

What was intended to be a mixtape has morphed into a multi-tracked masterpiece, where Edan replays instruments and all sorts throughout this ground breaking collage. Edan is playing ATP in December; wonder will he stop by ChoiceCuts to showcase this mix perhaps? we can only speculate! Either way, this is splendid news.

Mike Lewis and Co. have drafted in West Coast label mogul and Dj extraordinaire Peanut Butter Wolf to produce a mix of Hip Hop using 45′s, as always PBW selections are eclectic( tracklist below)

Wolfs credentials make him the perfect choice to raid the archives of labels such as Enjoy, Sleeping Bag, Fresh, Cold Chillin, Strong City, Nia and Idlers with skill and subtlety

This project is such a great honor for me to be involved with. This is one of the crowning moments of my music career, seriously. As a kid growing up in San Jose, CA when all this stuff was coming out, I was hooked and half a lifetime later I still am. I can only imagine what these songs sound like to a teenager today hearing them for the first time, just as they probably wonder what it was like for someone like me to have heard them for the first time back when it was all happening. I’ve also always wondered what it was like to grow up in one of the five boroughs in Hip-Hop’s infancy in the 80s. These songs were the closest I got to knowing. Peanut Butter Wolf

Over the past 18 months, the name Jay Electronica has popped up in many conversations.. the most famous MC who has yet to make an official release, executive producer of Badu’s recent instalment and currently her other half. We have some new Jay Electronica for you and an oldy from way back to give you a glimpse into this man’s talent. He reminds us of conscioud cerebral MC’s like Qtip, Posdnous, JLive and Outkast. It’s quite refreshing to see an MC live up to the hype of the blogs and boy can he rhyme. If he can transfer his style in the studio to the gigs. Well, count us in for a Dublin show please.
