Ah beloved vinyl sleeves! Portuguese crate digger and vinyl lover Joaquim Paulo has teamed up with German publisher Taschen to release – Funk & Soul Covers, a book that will portray over 500 Lp cover sleeves from the likes of Don Blackman, Bootsy Collins, Brass Construction and The Blackbyrds. The book will also boast some great interviews with the likes of Larry Mizell and Daptones Gabriel Roth for example and also feature artists such as Quantic and Andy Smith listing their favorite LP covers and why – Egon from Stones Throw also gets involved! This edition follows on from the success of their Jazz Covers book which was terrific so no doubt this will be of equal par. You can leaf through the book online or purchase a physical copy from this September onwards. Your coffee table needs this! On the topic of covers here’s my own personal favorite. Its of the Terry Callier ‘What Color Is Love’ LP….Whats your favorite LP sleeve??

Ricky Powell - Rappin With Rickster

Heads up on this forthcoming DVD release ‘Rappin With The Rickster’.  Started way back in August 1990 by Rickey Powell, a man many refer to as the ‘fourth Beastie Boy’, he is also one of Hip Hops most famous photographers. Ricky is releasing this DVD as a compilation of his finest moments from the show. Check out the trailer below!

‘The Radiant Child was just released by Tamra Davis, the documentary features never-before seen footage of the prolific Brooklyn born artist painting, talking about his art, and existing in the two years prior to his death in 1988.

As promised here’s the second and final installment of RZA’s latest art project entitled the W.A.I.L project…Each of the 3 pieces are limited to 360 copies worldwide and are available to buy from Sway and King Tech’s website.

Some have referred to Rza these days as ‘the hip hop hippie’ but love him or hate him, the man is a legend and these prints are an emblem to mark his 20 year dedication and lifetime in the field of Hip Hop

Did you hear about this? The RZA’s latest project? Victory Vs Death?…..

Well Sway and Tech from the World famous Wake up Show have created this project entitled When Art Imitates Life to highlight some of the major players in the game who have served their time (10 years or more) via limited canvas paintings. The RZA’s print for example will be kept to a minimum of 360 (300 40” x 30” & 60 80” x 60”) with others like Q-Bert and Shavu from System of a Down to follow.

There may be some prints still available from the website which you can find here. There not so cheap however but there are at least 5 different payment schemes available to help you out if one were so inclined. This is a story about a little hedgehog (voice of Mariya Vinogradova) and his friend bear cub (voice of Vyacheslav Nevinniy). They would meet every evening to drink tea, count the stars and have conversations. One day, as usual, the hedgehog decided to bring raspberry marmelade. As he went to the bear to count the stars, he was already thinking what to talk about. While passing through the woods on the way to his friend, the hedgehog finds a horse standing in a fog. He is curious as to whether the horse would suffocate if it lay down in the fog. Being an explorer, the hedgehog decides to explore the fog.
