The mighty Rakim Allah. What can we say? He dropped the rhymes like we knew he would. The power cut out. He kept going. A powerful show and the man’s a gent to boot. Check out the live show and remind yourself why Ra is called ‘The Microphone Fiend’
In the history of HipHop few artists have had as great an impact on the development and progression of the art form’s lyrical style as Rakim. Universally referenced as one of the Masters of the Microphone and an influence and inspiration to his peers and followers alike, Rakim first exploded onto the scene with the release of the iconic track ‘Eric B. is President’ in 1986 with long time collaborator Eric B.
Check out the live show recording from Rakim’s ChoiceCuts Dublin show in May of this year (2011). From the moment Rakim jumps into ‘Microphone Fiend’ you can tell he hasn’t lost any of his rhyming skills. Plenty of the new bangers mixed in with the classic Paid In Full material here too.
Below is the recording of this classic live show, enjoy!

Massive props to Ian Pierce a.k.a Ian da Bean for firing the photos below over to us a few days after the show (check out his flickr account here – more dope shots of ChoiceCuts shows there!)…
