Hypnotic Brass Ensemble – Heritage Tour Ep Launch is a special one off, they walked away owning the Glastonbury & The Electric Picnic last year, sold out two shows at the Cork Jazz Festival in one night and are now featured on the Gorillaz LP with Bobby Womack, Mos Def, Snoop Dogg and Tony Allen.
Hypnotic recorded an EP for us at ChoiceCuts last year and these 3 exclusive dates will bear witness to these amazing songs being performed live along with their amazing back catalogue. Hypnotic are a huge favourite with the ChoiceCuts regulars and having played here more than 10 times last year, we know of no other band of this calibre that have such mass appeal; their last Dublin show attracting everyone from jazz cats, punks to soul boys and techno freaks, their music is that infectious.
With fans including Barack Obama, David Byrne, Q-Tip, Madlib, Jay-Z, Erykah Badu, Jools Holland and the soon-to-be-announced news that they (along with Mos Def and Tony Allen) will be the new Gorillaz outfit, this band is no ordinary collective. 8 brothers, all the sons of Sun Ra Trumpeteer and songwriter Phil Cohran, playing since they were 3 years of age, Hypnotic have a heritage deeper than most bands will ever attain.
This show is the type of event that will lift you out of your recession woes and make you want to leave your job to become a musician and not pay taxes to the man!

Damon Alburns ‘Honest Jon’s‘ label are about to drop the Hypnotic’s first official full length studio album in May, an album which will receive full marks from any journalist worth their salt. Hypnotics values of sound, form and structure in their musicianship and songwriting hold the live show together tighter than anything you have seen before, putting a lot of bands who are in the limelight to shame.

This is the real deal folks – music the way it was meant to be. From the heart, from the lungs. These guys don’t need to plug in to be heard. As they say themselves, they could play on a boat in the dark – they’re powered from within.
