Beck’s Vier Rhythm Weekender Jazz Cuts!

To begin with, here is a a recent mix packed with nuggets (as you would expect) compiled by Gerald the Jazzman to get you in the mood for his performance tonight in Crane Lane Cork as part of The Rhythm Weekender. If your one of the lucky ones to be attending have fun and put on your dancing shoes!

Keeping with the Rhythm weekender expect to have your socks blown of by The United Vibrations tonight in the Button Factory who play on these shores for the first time. Daniel Crosby’s review for Jazz Reloaded said they were the best group I’ve seen in this country since . . . ever. He went on to say United Vibrations are genuinely the most important band to come out of the UK since the big rock bands of the 60′s, 70′s and 80′s. Hot tip and highly highly recommended!

THE HYPNOTIC BRASS ENSEMBLE

In addition to this The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble will take stage (along side myself) tomorrow night and will perform a very special one of Cosmic Jazz set. This performance is a special one-off which will see the band perform material close to their heart accompanied by visuals of the universe, galaxies and planets inspired by their father’s work and the likes of Sun Ra & his Arkestra. Keeping in tone with this I shall be rooting out some vinyls on a spiritual tip to kick of proceedings on the night. Highly anticipated performance from the 8 brothers and honorary Irish men who never seem to disappoint. HOT! Tickets can be purchased for this show and all other Rhythm Weekender events from here! Lots of other things happening as well, so be sure to check out the full lineup for a jam packed weekend of fun including Ethio Jazz front-man and pioneer  Mulutu Astatke on Sunday night in the Sugar Club.
