Releases for June

We’re still tweaking the site a bit, with a couple of ammendments taking place over the summer, so the chart is still not fully operational. As it’s summer there is a slew of releases we a are recommending for you to check out

On the Album front there is Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, the first official studio album from ‘the brothas’ featuring some of the best tracks from their last 4 street albums. Tony Allen, Malcom Catto, Damon Alburn, Flea all make cameo’s, highly recommended. Mos Def finds his form once again with The Ecstatic. Madlib, Chad Hugo, Dilla, Oh No and Mighty Mos all contribute on production duties.

The there is the highly rated debut from The Phenomenal Hand Clapping Band which aint out til September, but we have a copy and if you like the promo ep floating around you will love this 12 track exploration into New York Disco Soul influenced LP. Not forgetting that Quantic & His Combo Barbaro is now officially released, we reckon this is the most accomplished LP Will has produced so far. A tremendous amount of endeavour has gone into making this latin influenced project, again a slew of musicians and collaborators in the mix.

On the beat front it has to be Paul White’s ‘The Strange Dreams of Paul White’ on his very own One Handed Music imprint. Fans of Bullion, Fly Lo, Madlib et al will be all over this one

We will throw up some of the singles/ep’s that are out currently that we are recommeding during the week, so keep an eye out.
