Rasheed Chappell
Haven’t heard too much from this promising New Jersey MC since the Kenny Dope release ‘Dope Musiq‘ on Ill Friction last year. The track was a banger, straight-up Hip Hop with Kenny behind the boards flipping the classic Gwen Mc Rae track “90% of me is you” with some nice drum programming and chops to boot. Since this teaser release, both artists have been in the studio working on the album titled Future Before Nostaligia for Kenny’s Ill Friction label (part of Kay Dee Records).
Over the last 20 years Kenny Dope has covered a wide range of styles and genres from house, hip hop, latin, jazz and funk to producing for Masters At Work, The Bucketheads and many more projects under pseudonyms. It’s telling that for Kenny to produce this full project means that Chappell has got some serious clout. Along with this his collaborations for the album include Biz Markie, Terry Hunter, Jazzy Jeff & Clark Kent, so there is no slouching in this department either.

On first listen Kenny has taken a straight-up approach for the production style of the tracks and this unadulterated hip hop could be the medicine we need to get us through these cold winter months ahead.
Like all great MC’s Rasheed Chappell has a story to tell, engaging wordplay and instantly recognisable voice and with the bonus of a super team behind him expect this release to bubble to the top and all the singles to be in the crates of discerning deejays across the globe.

This new leak from the album is Building 8 which highlights how far society has come and at the same time how much it remains the same since the world changing 9/11 event. A couple more snippets of Rasheed for you below also.
